HIV/AIDS CURRICULUM

Old Enough to Know - This recent research at the University of Cambridge, conducted in Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa with local partners, is an innovative exploration of what children think about sex and AIDS and what they want to know and learn; it provides the outcome of researchers’ consultation with pupils around their knowledge of sexuality, and shows in technicolor, children’s’ (almost) daily confrontation and/or experimentation with sexuality in their living environments. The study offers possibilities to resolve the gap between children’s everyday realities on the one hand and teacher’s curriculum-based and cultural restraints on the other (ASKAIDS). Taking cognizance of Zimbabwean HIV/AIDS curriculum, the HAMC HIV/AIDS curriculum will be heavily augmented by research done in Old Enough to Know.
